MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR December 17, 2017(see invitation below) Everyone’s invited!
Every year, the Santa Fe Artists’ Medical Fund organizes a Holiday Party and Silent Auction to raise additional resources for the Permanent Fund. More than 200 local artists donate artwork that are 6″ x 6″. The funds that are raised are disbursed throughout the year to professional artists in Santa Fe with medical needs.
This year, my donation is a casein painting of Toddy, our “Ginger Boy” cat!
I will be participating in an auction to raise funds for the Santa Fe Artists Emergency Medical Relief Fund. See invitation below for details…
About $25,000 is typically raised at this event, where local artists turn out to support their own. At the artist-dominated gathering, which is open to the public, original 6″ x 6″ paintings, sculptures, and jewelry are donated to raise funds in a silent auction. The beneficiaries are professional artists in medical or dental crisis, with the Santa Fe Community Foundation administering the funds. The Santa Fe Artists Emergency Medical Fund was founded by artist Armond Lara after a discussion with Doug Higgins and Mark Spencer. “As far as we know, it’s the only organization like this in New Mexico that’s done by the artists, for the artists,” says Lara. The event has been held over the years at Lara’s studio, Munson Gallery, Ventana Fine Art, Chiaroscuro Contemporary Art, and currently, Yares Art Projects.
This beautiful church is located only a hop, skip and a jump away from my studio – what a joy to be able to head into the preserve and have such a wonderful vantage point while painting.

I have been trying to paint at least once every week outside. It’s such a beautiful time of year here in Santa Fe and this gorgeous chamisa was staring me right in the face. I smiled back 🙂 and started painting.
